The web was evolving fast some years ago - now it is evolving even faster and sometimes you start a project and when it is done the techiques used are already deprecated. Google and opensource bring out much of the goodies for everyone and it’s a developers market for sure.
I have been involved in many web projects and know that there are many things that needs to be fixed before the web application becomes a “first class citizens”. Browser comapbiltiy is one mayor key here. Performance is another and security is a third. There are quite a few things to consider here, but we are one our way.
Whenever I have had the opportunity in the last few year I have been trying to argu that the desktop, desktop applications and the web will be one unit soon. Maybe soon is not quite so distant today!?
I wonder where the HTML family will end up. Who will be the force behinds it’s raise or fall? It could be developer driven (we use other options) or browser driven (they implement other options) or standard driven by making good standards that both developers and browsers can follow. The last option is by far the best in my simple opinion.
